PETsys Microelectronics

PETsys Electronics provides Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) for applications based on radiation detectors, in particular PET and SPECT scanners, and large detector systems in elementary particle, nuclear and astrophysics experiments. The ASICs, developed in CMOS 130 and 350 nm technologies, provide a large number of Silicon Photomultipliers or Avalanche Photodiodes input channels. Very low-noise and low-power make the circuits suitable for large high-performance systems. Including high performance TDCs and ADCs, the ASICs provide excellent timing and amplitude measurement. High-speed output digital links allow the integration in high-performance data acquisition systems.

PET Detector Modules

PETsys Electronics provides complete Detector Modules for PET scanners. The Detector Modules are based on LYSO crystals associated to Silicon Photomultipliers or Avalanche Photodiodes. The Detector Module includes low-noise and low-power electronics for detector biasing, pulse conditioning, time and amplitude measurement and digital readout. High-speed digital links for clock and sync distribution, data readout and frontend configuration allow for easy integration in high-performance data acquisition systems.

Electronics Systems

PETsys Electronics provides electronics boards for radiation detectors suitable for easy implementation of large systems scalable to several ten thousand channel, in particular in PET scanners. The electronics boards provide a large range of functionality, including frontend signal conditioning and amplification, pulse discrimination, time and amplitude measurement. DC-DC converters and regulators generate all required voltages from a single power supply line. When combined in a full system, PETsys electronics boards allow the acquisition of data to a suitable PC at very high rates using different access ports. Electrical and optical high-speed links are used allowing the best compromise between performance and cost.

Experimental Physics Applications

The electronics systems of PETsys are suitable for applications in particle physics, nuclear physics and astrophysics experiments. The systems are particularly appropriate for SiPM based detectors like calorimeters or time-of-flight detectors, given its execllent timing performance, low-noise and low power. The data readout of the frontend systems uses standard high-speed optical or electrical links in flexible arrangements allowing for scalability and easy integration in very large systems.

Medical Applications

The detectors and electronics systems of PETsys allow flexible and straightfoward assembly of PET scanners of different scope, geometry and performance. The common denominator is the use of Silicon Photomultipliers allowing for cost effective, compact and high-performance PET systems with unmatched timing performance. Different detector modules options are appropriate for a range of applications, from large whole-body systems to small high-resolution scanners. Detectors with DoI capability will also become available. All detectors have very high fill factor not compromising the scanner counting sensitivity. Last but not least, Time-of Flight capability allows for large sensitivity gains in whole-body scanners.
